Nicholas B. Brown, 22, was arrested for the incident which took place around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, said Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Capt. John Watterson.
Brown was nabbed after deputies were dispatched to the William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail for a report of someone seen pleasuring themselves in public, Watterson said.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered Brown, who initially fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later with the assistance of numerous deputies and a Sheriff’s Office K-9.
"Mr. Brown is accused of pleasuring himself in public while using the Rail Trail," he said.
Brown was charged with public lewdness and released on an appearance ticket
He is scheduled to appear in court on June 18.
The department is asking anyone who may have witnessed or has information about the incident or thinks they or someone else may be a victim of similar incidents to contact the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 845-486-3820.
The investigation is continuing, and all information will be kept confidential.
